West Nile - Yumbe District | 2nd August, 2026

The NRM Director Finance and Administration, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, together with Director of Legal Affairs, Counsel Enoch Barata and NRM Electoral Commission Commissioner Hon. Zaitun Driwaru, held a fact-finding meeting with the leadership of NRM Yumbe District following allegations of misappropriation and diversion of funds meant for grassroots mobilization during the recent LC I and Women Council elections.

The meeting was attended by the District security team led by the Resident District Commissioner, members of the District Executive Committee, NRM Sub-county Chairpersons, Sub-county Registrars, cultural leaders, opinion leaders, and party supporters with exception of the NRM admin who is on the run. The engagement followed the arrest of the District Chairperson and the District Administrative Secretary over allegations of financial impropriety involving mobilization funds.

After extensive deliberations from the party leaders and legal guidance from the Director of Legal Affairs, Counsel Enoch Barata, the meeting resolved that;

1. Investigations are completed expeditiously and all culpable individuals are prosecuted.

2. All NRM Sub-county Chairpersons to record statements with the Police to aid in the investigations.

3. All party officials under investigation must step aside until investigations into the matter is concluded.

4. Sub-county Chairpersons still holding mobilization funds to record statements with the Police before ensuring the funds are disbursed to the intended villages during barazas scheduled for 4th August 2026.

5. Recover and refund the wrongly disbursed UGX 30,000 per village.

Following the meeting, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale and Hon. Zaitun Driwaru proceeded to Yumbe Central Police Station to follow up on the progress of the investigations and recorded witness statements to help in the prosecution of the accused persons.


Hajjat Medina assured the NRM leadership of the district of the party's commitment to strengthening internal accountability and ensuring that resources meant for grassroots mobilization serve their intended purpose.
