PRESIDENT MUSEVENI donates 200million shillings, as Hajjat Medina donates another 30million shillings towards the 18TH Provincial Prayer Peace Week under Arua Catholic Diocese Hosted by Koboko Parish

On the 22nd January, 2025; The Director Finance and Administration - National Resistance Movement; Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale joined thousands of pilgrims and the clergy from West Nile, Acholi, Lango and Karamoja, at St. Charles Lwanga College Koboko for the 18th Provincial Prayer Peace Week that ran from 21st to 24th January, themed "Forgive Us Our Trespasses, Grant Us Your Peace."

The week is dedicated to fostering reconciliation and healing among Northern Uganda's communities, fostering unity despite past conflicts, and also promoting mental healing among communities affected by the conflict. The event, initiated by Archbishop Emeritus Rev. Dr. John Baptist Odama in 2005, is being attended by Bishops, Santos Lino Wanok, Archbishop Raphael Wakorach P'mony, Sabino Ocan Odoki, political, Cultural, other religious leaders and government officials.

Speaking to the congregation and pilgrims, Hajjat Medina applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his visionary leadership and restoring peace and security in Northern Uganda, as the region was torn apart by insurgencies like the LRA, WNBF, UNRF I and UNRF II. The Director also conveyed a message of H.E the President to the congregation. H.E President Museveni supported the same event with 200million shillings.

Hajjat expressed gratitude to Archbishop Emeritus Rev. Dr. John Baptist Odama for initiating such a meaningful event.

She also thanked the Secretary General of NRM, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong Awany for his message and support towards the event. Through him another Twenty Million Ugandan Shillings (20) from the National Resistance Movement party was donated towards the event.

The Director urged the congregation to exhibit harmonious coexistence regardless of religious and tribal differences inorder to be on the path of development as the region heals from its past problems.

"God is one and he is God of peace, unity and love, who are we to judge others? Why do you call a brother Kafir? judgement should be left to God " - Hajjat added.

She also challenged the clergy to not only focus on preaching the aspect of giving to God, but also use part of the sermon to preach rightful societal values, socio-economic transformation of the people and promotion of good family values. Adding that, if we don't instill morals in our children, we shall end up raising drug addicts, thieves etc…who won't give back to the church. This can also raise a violent and hateful community.

Hajjat lastly made another humble contribution of Ten Million Ugandan Shillings (10M) to the event making a total of 30million shillings.

WHY WEST NILE NEEDS A UNITED, FORMIDABLE, AND VIBRANT PARLIAMENTARY CAUCAS TO PUSH FOR ITS POLITICAL, SOCIAL & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

By: Anguzu Vincent There is a land in the far northwestern corner of Uganda, a land kissed by the waters of the great Nile, bordered by the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and its land of the resilient, farmers, traders, the educated and dreamers and its called West Nile! Historically known as the lado enclave. A sub-region of extraordinary cultural richness, geographic strategic importance, and untapped economic potential. Its people are resilient, its soil is fertile, and its spirit is unbreakable. Yet for far too long, West Nile has watched from the periphery as other regions of Uganda have leaped forward economically, politically, socially and institutionally. The time has come to change this narrative. The time has come for the sons and daughters of West Nile seated in the august house/Parliament to rise as one voice, one fist, and one formidable force, Not merely for a political argument but to push for the regions development agenda. West Nile comprises of districts...
