ARUA: A MOTHER DUMPS BABY IN A PIT LATRINE

The territorial police in Arua District have arrested a woman for dumping her baby in a pit latrine.

The woman has been identified as 22 years old Drateru Janet.

It's alleged that on 9th January 2023 at at about 10pm in the night in yivu east village, tilevu parish , Vurra Sub-County in Arua District Drateru Janet gave birth to a baby boy by induction, she cut the ambilical cord and dumped the baby in the neighbors pit latrine.

The baby was found live and crying in the pit latrine by a resident who reported the matter to police. The police from Vurra police station reported to the crime scene followed by the fire brigade rescue team from Arua Central Police Station.

The police removed the baby alive from the pit latrine and rushed him to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was apprehended and detained at Vurra police station in Arua District pending further investigations into the matter.
