ARUA: A MOTHER DUMPS BABY IN A PIT LATRINE

The territorial police in Arua District have arrested a woman for dumping her baby in a pit latrine. The woman has been identified as 22 years old Drateru Janet. It's alleged that on 9th January 2023 at at about 10pm in the night in yivu east village, tilevu parish , Vurra Sub-County in Arua District Drateru Janet gave birth to a baby boy by induction, she cut the ambilical cord and dumped the baby in the neighbors pit latrine. The baby was found live and crying in the pit latrine by a resident who reported the matter to police. The police from Vurra police station reported to the crime scene followed by the fire brigade rescue team from Arua Central Police Station. The police removed the baby alive from the pit latrine and rushed him to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. The suspect was apprehended and detained at Vurra police station in Arua District pending further investigations into the matter.

ARUA GIRL KILLS FATHER IN DOMESTIC SCANDAL

The territorial police of Ayivu West division in Arua City are investigating circumstances under which a 23-year-old daughter killed own father in a domestic brawl. The West Nile Region Police Spokesperson Josephine Angucia identified the suspect as Maliko Rose,a resident of Gila village, Nyiovura Ward, Ayivu West division in Arua City. The regrettable incident happened on 2nd January 2023 at around 8:30pm. Angucia told journalists that the suspect was told by the deceased father Alias Ponzio 48, to go and fetch water from the well for home use, which she refused. In the evening when food was ready, the late told the suspect Maliko not to eat since she refused to fetch water for family use. The regional police mouthpiece asserted that this prompted Maliko to first move away in anger, and  came back shortly and hit her father and he was rushed to Adumi Health Centre IV were he pronounced dead. KAMPALA LORD MAYOR ERIAS LUKWAGO SET TO ADDRESS MEDIA ON ISSUES OF ALLEGED GEN SALIM SALEH'S LEAKED LETTER AND THE FREEDOM CITY STAMPEDE

 Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is set to address the media on several issues, including links with Gen. Salim Saleh and the stampede at Freedom City, which claimed 10 lives. Lukwago has been in the news ever since a note from Gen. Saleh, the coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, leaked. According to the note, Gen. Saleh said he was withdrawing the support he had been giving to Lukwago until the latter apologized. Gen. Saleh told New Vision in a phone interview on Tuesday, "I am waiting for the apology." ARUA DISTRICT LEADERS LAUNCH A MULTI-BILLION WATER AND HEALTH CARE PROJECT FUNDED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF ROMANIA

Arua district leaders led by the Woman Member Of Parliament Hon Paparu Lillian Obiale and the Chairman LC 5 Alfred Okuonzi today 03-01-2023 launched a multi-billion water and healthcare project. The launch started with an interface between the district officials and representatives of the government of Romania led by the mayor of baru county His Worship Daniel Raducana. In attendance was the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Ezama Ham Muzamil, The Deputy CAO Jimmy Ali, the district engineer Tiyo Odaa, the LC 3 chairman Pariyo Joel with his district speaker and the councillor representing people with disabilities.  The 5 years project funded by the government of Romania in partnership with Arua district local government focuses on two sectors of water and healthcare services where there will be construction of 2 modern motorized boreholes with each costing 150 million ugandan shillings and construction of grade three health centre unit costing 1.5 billion ugandan shillings.
